Western Pacific Commission for Acoustics

WESPAC

since 1982

The Western Pacific Commission for Acoustics (WESPAC) is an international organization, which promotes communication and stimulates interactions in acoustical research.

In 1982, WESPRAC (Western Pacific Regional Commission for Acoustics) was established. The founder and the first president is Prof. Kido (Tohoku Univ., Japan) and the first conference, WESPRAC I, was held in Singapore. Since then, the WESPAC has been held every three years and all areas pertinent to acoustics from around the world are welcome.

In 2000, at the conference WESPAC VII, it turned out to be so successful that it was decided to rename them as “Western Pacific Commission for Acoustics” and “Western Pacific Acoustics Conference” (WESPAC).

The last conference (12th WESPAC) was successfully held in Singapore in 2015 and the next WESPAC XIII is to be held in New Deli, India in Nov. 2018.
